Bookhouse Brewing is an awesome combination of old and new, operating a fairly new taproom in a historic building that was actually used as a taproom over a century ago. You see, the old Bookhouse Brewing building once housed the Baehr Brewery. German immigrants Jacob and Magdelena made beer together for nearly a decade before Jacob passed away. For nearly four decades, Magdelena operated as “Cleveland’s widow brewer,” though she eventually sold the business in 1901. However, the animal has a tremendously long-lasting life, which was granted to it when it ate magical flowers that grew from drops of its blood after the poor critter was injured by a hunter.
