Kansas comes alive in the warmer months, and that life is best explored on foot through any of our many beautiful hiking trails. If you don’t have a list made up for this year, here are a few suggestions of loop trails to get you started on the right foot. Most of these trails are rated as easy, with a few moderate listings thrown in as more options if you’ve already broken in your hiking shoes. Grab your walking stick and let’s go!
- Old Military Fishing Trail - Ozawkie
Jason Bell/AllTrails 3 miles of loop trail will have you happily trotting along, enjoying the nearby lake and rocky pathways. As long as your socks are high and you have your bug spray handy, this trail is a breeze.
- Hidden Springs Trail - Paola

- Marty Bender Nature Area Trail - Salina
Dave Mather/AllTrails 2.8 miles of loop trail out in Salina might be just the break or addition you need on a road trip across the state. It’s beautiful out here in this restored prairie.
- Perry State Park Loop Trail - Ozawkie
Cindy Stavropoulos/AllTrails 4.3 miles of trail await you at Perry State Park, a lakeside trail that’s rated as moderate for hikers who like a little challenge. The views are beautiful from many angles and in any season, but during the summer, it’s a great spot to see wildlife and explore.
- Santa Fe Lake North Trail - Augusta
Armaan Mehta/AllTrails 4.4 miles of trail out near Augusta is a great spot for enjoying a bit of natural scenery whether you’re a local or just passing through the area. It’s a nice little loop that you can hike or bike when the weather is right.
- Rock Town Trail - Lucas
Dave Mather/AllTrails 2.5 miles of beautiful rocky trail out at Wilson State Park isn’t something you should miss. Not only is it beautiful from the trail, but the lake is a great place to spend the day and another great angle on these rocky shores.
- Kings Creek Loop Trail - Manhattan
Kevin Gullett/AllTrails 4.6 miles of the Konza Prairie awaits you with open prairie, endless skies, and varied wildlife to spot from afar. If you can handle a moderate difficulty hike, this is one you won’t want to miss.
- George Latham Trail - Lawrence

- Pawnee Prairie Park Trail - Wichita
