Illinois is just filled with incredible breweries, many of which now occupy historic buildings around the state. From an 1800s opera house to a pre-Civil War house, a former newspaper building, and even an old bakery, you certainly have your pick of unique places to enjoy craft beer. If you live in or have been to Peoria, you may have seen a beautiful and impressive church located at the corner of Madison and Spaulding Avenues. However, this is no longer a church but the home to Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery.
Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery occupies a former church with a long history. In 1889, the Romanesque Revival-style church, designed by W.W. Boyington, first opened its doors and enjoyed decades of worship until 1949.

The church building was sold again. Through the years, it was transformed into many different businesses from an event and banquet space to business offices, art and photography studios, and more. In 2015, the Conn Family fell in love with the space, purchased it, and in September 2016, opened their second Obed & Isaac’s location.
