There are, of course, tons of completely gorgeous overlooks sprinkled throughout the Natural State.  Yellow Rock Trail at Devil’s Den is one for the ages and Hawksbill Crag is internationally renowned. That all makes sense, of course, as stunning views of the Ozarks and Ouachitas are kind of our thing over in western Arkansas. Today we’re going to talk about the overlooks at a recreation area that doesn’t get nearly enough love. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the absolutely jaw-dropping views from White Rock Mountain right here in Arkansas:

You’ll find White Rock Mountain Campground & Recreation Area in the Ozark National Forest, which is a stunning place whether you’re looking out over it or standing among the incredible trees.

Seriously, merely driving on White Rock Mountain is a scenic adventure like no other.

The forest itself is another kind of enchanting adventure.

The shelter at the overlook on White Rock Mountain is the perfect place to stand and stare out at the Ozarks all around. The rim of the mountain includes the easy, 1.8-mile White Rock Rim Trail, and the old overlook is as amazing as ever:

While the Overlook is nice to gaze out from, it’s also awesome to gaze out at. You can take the more moderate White Rock West Trail for even more incredible views.

When is the best season to visit the overlooks on White Rock Mountain? Well, fall is especially lovely . . .

And, honestly? Waking up early on a crisp winter morning and hiking up to gaze out forever above the barren trees? Also super awesome.
