Tucked away in Giles County of southwestern Virginia, Bald Knob is an outdoor adventure that could impress anyone.

Kassie Ward / AllTrails To reach the Bald Knob Parking Lot, you’ll take Mountain Lake Road (VA-700) for 7 miles and you’ll find a gravel parking lot near the intersection of VA-613 and Mountain Lake Outfitters.

The trail may be short, but it’s by no means an easy excursion. In just 0.4 miles, you’ll gain nearly 500 feet in elevation!

There’s no need to rush, though. Take your time as you climb and be sure to stop and notice all the lovely scenery along the way. The forest is filled with wildflowers in the spring, summer, and early fall.

You’ll have reached the summit in no time. Bald Knob resides at an elevation of 4,300 feet above sea level, and the views of the New River Valley are simply unparalleled.
