The giant size of the balloons, the bright colors, the idea of floating away from your troubles…it all combines into a carefree feeling of sheer joy. You can see hot air balloons in New York at the Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival. The 30th edition of this beloved festival will take place on September 3-5, 2021 at Tymor Park in Langrangeville.
There are 75 planned balloon launches throughout the weekend (weather permitting).
Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival Morning launches take off around 6:30 a.m. and evening launches are at 5:30 p.m.
Seeing these colorful and majestic balloons is a truly unique experience. The festival has a picnic area so you can chow down while watching the balloons soar through the Hudson Valley skies.

Tickets are $14 in the evenings and just $7 in the mornings. This is a great family activity.

HeartLover1717/Flickr Full flights are $275 per person and you’ll actually get to free-float through the air. For those who find that a little intimidating, tethered rides are also available for $25 per person. You’ll be attached to the ground via a rope and only up 50-100 feet.
With many food vendors on site and tons of family activities and live music, there’s a lot to see and do here. Even if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you’re sure to have a great time!

Balloons float with the wind, so they can’t easily be steered or float in a circle. Pilots have to keep an eye beneath them to make sure there are appropriate landing sites nearby.
