The history of Havisham House began in 1888 when construction was started by A.J. Rendleman who used bricks that were made on-site. Finished in 1892, this French-colonial gem was under his care until 1905 when it was sold to a family member. Over the years, ownership changed hands several times until recently when the home and its carriage house were completely restored into the luxury property it is today, all while maintaining many of the old-world elements that make it so charming. A stay here will likely be one you won’t soon forget and may never want to leave.
The Havisham House property is conveniently located in the heart of the best of what Southern Illinois has to offer: the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park, Ferne Clyffe State Park, and the Tunnel Hill Bike Trail. It’s the perfect location for an adult getaway with a significant other or group of friends.
