Bowman Field was established in 1919 and it is known by many as the first commercial airport in Kentucky and is one of the oldest continually operating commercial airfields in North America.

There are two runways that are in use by smaller, commerical airlines, as well as private planes and other clubs and organizations.
In its 100 year history, the airport has grown and evolved and played a large part in the lives of those in the area.
Facebook/Bowman Field Friends In 1927, Charles Lindbergh landed the Spirit of St. Louis at the airport as 10,000 spectators looked on. During World War II, Bowman Field was an incredibly important training base, as well as the nation’s busiest airport.
And another fun fact: Bowman Field was used in the James Bond film, Goldfinger, in 1963.
