If fall is your seasonal spirit animal, we have an apple orchard that you’ll definitely want to check out. In Hillsboro, the folks at Oregon Heritage Farms are busy harvesting this year’s bounty. Honeycrisp, Gala, Gravenstein… right now, the fields at this family-run farm are flush with fresh, fragrant apples. Come and pick up a bushel of freshly harvested apples, and enjoy a homemade apple cider donut and slushie. Mingle with friendly farm animals, and pick up a pumpkin for your front porch. Now through November, Oregon Heritage Farms has opened its (market barn) doors for a celebration of all things apples!

Oregon Heritage Farms is a fourth-generation, family-run farm in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley.

Oregon Heritage Farms/Facebook It was founded in the early 1980s by father and son duo Phil and Robert McLennan.

Oregon Heritage Farms is actually spread out across four different plots of land. The market (which is open to visitors) resides in an old milking parlor.

With 400 acres spread over four different farms, they grow around 12 different varieties of apples each season.

Each year beginning in August, Oregon Heritage Farms opens up its market for apple festival season. In the past, the apple festival has featured games, hay rides, apple demos and tastings, and live entertainment.

But that’s okay, because the most important aspects of the apple festival remain intact.

For starters, the farm is still harvesting some of the best apples in all of Oregon (and the PNW, for that matter), available for purchase in the market store.

And… Happy Hour is back! Every day from 3-5 p.m., guests are invited to visit and get a half dozen apple cider donuts and an apple cider slushie for $5! Now that’s a next-level fall happy hour!

Also, the pumpkin patch is back! Beginning in October, the farm is hosting a less mess pumpkin patch to support the local Hilhi baseball team.

Gustavo Ferrari/Google Local Kids always enjoy a good pumpkin patch – no frills necessary!

As always, the farm has an array of adorable, furry friends to check out while you’re sipping your cider: goats, sheep, and sometimes pigs.

While this year’s apple festival season looks a bit different from seasons past, the most important things remain comfortingly constant:

Oregon Heritage Farms/Facebook First, Oregon Heritage Farm has a bounty of apples, and all autumn long, they are celebrating this iconic fall fruit. And second, and most importantly, Oregon Heritage Farms is a beautiful, fun, and wholly delightful day trip destination in the Beaver State.
