We’re lucky to get to experience all four seasons here in Washington. Fall in particular seems to come with a lot of festivals and traditions, from our various Oktoberfest celebrations to Leavenworth’s Autumn Leaf Festival. And if you happen to live near the charming little city of Issaquah, Washington, you already know that nothing tops the community fun at the annual Salmon Days festival.

Salmon Days is a two-day festival that is always held on the first weekend of October.

The Salmon Days festival is sponsored by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce.

The event is meant to celebrate the return of the local salmon to their birth waters, embracing Issaquah’s history, culture, and ethnic diversity.

Salmon Days / Facebook Back in the 1970s, the event was smaller, and included a children’s parade, hatchery tours, and a Kiwanis BBQ.

Today, festival goers can browse through hundreds of vendors, which will have everything from arts and crafts to food from around the world.

One of the most beloved festival events is the Puget Sound Dockdogs. This is an epic display of canine skill and talent, and happens during both days of the festival!

You can still enjoy a guided hatchery tour this year to see the stars of the show, the salmon – but you’ll have to reserve a tour time in advance.
