Minnesota is a place where nature’s beauty and historical sites often combine! For example, there’s an old quarry nestled within Banning State Park. An abandoned lighthouse still stands on Duluth’s Park Point. And places like Mill City Museum offer river views alongside old mill ruins. The attraction we’d like to introduce today is equally as beautiful – and as historic – as the aforementioned places. This one is in Hastings, Minnesota, nestled on the Vermillion River. Vermillion Falls Park is a beautiful park in Hastings, Minnesota. It’s tucked away along the Vermillion River, and it’s a beautiful place for a hike or a picnic.

A short series of trails through the park lead to its beautiful sites. There are plenty of trees to provide shade, and a picnic area lets you enjoy lunch with a view.

There’s even a charming footbridge where a unique tradition has started. Couples attach locks to it!

And of course, you can’t miss the rushing waterfall. Vermillion Falls tumbles 35 feet into a deep limestone ravine.

From above, you can see the beautiful tree-lined river below as it continues its flow. Look closely, and you may spot some wildlife!

You’ll also have a nice view of the limestone cliffs that rise over the river. It is, simply put, absolutely beautiful.

There’s another part of the park, too: the ruins of an old gristmill that was once powered by the river. It was built in 1853, and it was the first operating mill in Minnesota

All in all, this beautiful park is an interesting piece of Minnesota history. Not only is it made up of beautiful scenery.
