It goes without saying that Massachusetts is well-known for its beaches. Jaws, the most memorable beach movie of all time, was filmed right here in Martha’s Vineyard. The exact number of miles varies depending on the method of measurement used, but we’re in the top 10 states in the country for the amount of coastline possessed. Between the saltwater beaches along the ocean and our many lake beaches, we’re absolutely loaded down with magnificent shore for visitors to explore.
With so many beaches in Massachusetts, how do you decide which to visit on a warm day? One less popular beach that we are quite fond of is the small but beautiful Old Silver Beach in Falmouth.
Since Old Silver Beach faces to the west (a bit of a rarity in the Bay State!), you’ve got magnificent sunset views here!

This is a small beach, so it can occasionally get a little crowded during peak hours. But the water is generally calm and clear, perfect for wading.

Buzzard’s Bay is an area historically known for warmer water temperatures than the Atlantic Ocean beaches. Located on Buzzard’s Bay, Old Silver Beach’s waters tend to stay pretty warm.

The views here are magnificent no matter the season or time of day.

The beach is conveniently located close to downtown Falmouth, so there are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore once you are done walking along the shoreline!
