Is there any better way celebrate the annual harvest of grapes than at a beautiful vineyard in North Carolina during its annual Grape Stomp Festival? We think not! So save the date, make your plans, load up the car, and head to Columbus, North Carolina, on September 4th to visit the Russian Chapel Hills Winery for a family-oriented event sure to be the highlight of your weekend.
The annual Grape Stomp Festival was cancelled last year so there’s a lot to catch up on, celebration-wise, in 2021.

Let’s start with the harvest.

Afterall, that’s where a grape stomp begins.

And if you’re unfamiliar with how the winery got its name, you’ll be enthralled by the tiny, wooden Russian chapel built at the top of the hill. From its perch it seems to oversee and bestow a particular blessing over the crop each year.

Next: the stomping. Come prepared to shed your shoes and squish some grapes.

And no grape stomp festival would be complete without a chance to sample the fruits of the vine in final form.

Sample, taste, and drink up. There’s plenty where this came from!

The annual Grape Stomp Festival also features live music, arts and crafts (including live demos by potters, other artists, and jewelers), a wine lottery, hayrides for the entire family, and evening activities that include a gala and disco dancing.
