There is one event that New Mexico is famous for and that will take your breath away. In fact, it has previously been named as one of the best fall festivals in the entire nation. Of course, we are talking about the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. This must-visit event in Albuquerque features nine days filled with hundreds of hot air balloons soaring through the sky, family-friendly activities, and evening glows that will create the most picture-perfect settings.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is an event that many New Mexicans look forward to every single year and you certainly won’t want to miss it. This is the festival’s 49th year and the theme for this year’s event is “Time Flies.”

This festival takes place at Balloon Fiesta Park, a 360-acre park that will be filled with acres of vendors, balloons, activities, and so much more.

During the balloon fiesta, hundreds of balloons will be launched high into the sky. In 2019, for example, more than 580 hot air and gas-filled balloons soared above Albuquerque. There were also pilots from 17 different countries.

Each day during the festival, there are multiple activities and events for you to enjoy. These events start early in the morning and may include dawn patrol, morning glows, and mass ascension of the balloons.

During the day, you will not want to miss events like competitive balloon flying, chainsaw carving, and skydiving shows.

The “Special Shape Rodeo” is a favorite event of adults and children alike. This has become one of the most popular parts of the festival and there is no doubt why. The sky will be filled with unique shapes and fun characters. It’s an incredible sight!

The balloons aren’t the only incredible shows you can watch during the festival. There are three locations around Albuquerque – Main Street Stage, Main Street, and North Main Street Stage – where you can enjoy live performances from some of the best entertainers.
