Summer sunsets in South Carolina often deliver breathtaking displays of light. And one of the more exquisite places to witness evening lighting is Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. If you’ve already discovered Brookgreen’s holiday lights extravaganza during the winter, then just wait until you see their summer rendition: Summer Light: Art by Night.

Gates open for Summer Light at 7 p.m., which is definitely early enough to see a lot of the gardens by daylight and also watch the transition at sunset.

And every Wednesday through Saturday through August 21st, you’ll also be treated to a special summer exhibit, called Summer Light: Art by Night.

Look forward to nightly live music in the Pegasus field, with music sets scheduled for 7:15, 8:15, and 9:15.

The gardens’ restaurant will be open serving boxed meals you can devour outdoors, and regular food trucks will rotate in during the summer with additional food choices so you can make an entire evening of it at Brookgreen.

And you can quench your thirst at beverage stations found throughout the gardens.
