The city of Richmond was chosen for this park since it’s home to so many surviving sites and structures from the World War II years. It also played a significant role in the war efforts, as the four Richmond shipyards produced 747 ships during their time.

During your visit, your first stop should be at the park’s Visitor Education Center. It contains a variety of interactive exhibits and films so people of all ages can learn about this impactful period in American history. The staff will also gladly point you to the area’s most notable historic sites.

After exploring the visitor center, head on over to the Rosie the Riveter Memorial. Although not an official part of the park, the Red Oak Victory Ship - the last surviving ship built in the Kaiser Shipyard - is another notable site in the area.
