There are so many wonderful places to grab a bite here in the Bluegrass State, that it can be difficult (not to mention daunting) for a newcomer to stand out. But that’s exactly what La Chandeleur Restaurant & Food Truck has managed to do. The eatery’s owner Kyle Thomas first opened La Chandeleur Food Truck in 2016, after several years of working in established Louisville restaurants such as Jack Fry’s, Proof on Main, and Wild Eggs. Offering French-inspired fare such as crepes and frites, the food truck was a big success — so much so, that in late 2020, Thomas opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Louisville’s Beechmont neighborhood. From beignets to chicken fries, you can’t go wrong with the menu from La Chandeleur, whether you’re grabbing an order of hot frites to go from the food truck, or sitting down for a delicious brunch in the restaurant.
La Chandeleur Food Truck rolled into Louisville in 2016, and hasn’t looked back since.

Foodies from far and wide flock to the food truck for its unique, French-ified southern specialty: chicken frites.

What are chicken frites, you ask? Why, they’re crispy-crunchy french fries topped with house-made queso, pulled chicken, and chipotle aioli. They are a taste sensation.

If you’re a saucy kind of person, you’ll be in sauce heaven here. Choose from garlic aioli, bourbon mustard, curry ketchup, and a house-made barbecue sauce that’s out of this world! You may need to order extra fries for all these sauces.

And it’s not all chicken fries at the food truck, either. The honey butter fried chicken sandwiches here are incredible – and they have to be, because we are in Kentucky after all!

The brick-and-mortar restaurant opened in fall 2020, and has quickly become a must-visit eatery in Louisville. If you’re into brunch, you must order the bacon, cheddar, and chive scones with red pepper jelly! It’s a sweet-and-savory party in your mouth.

Of course, if you prefer the sweet to the savory, the River City French Toast Crepe is calling your name!
