There really is no competition for Georgia as the best state in the country. We have the beautiful views, the kindest people and the most delicious food. But there are also quite a few things that Georgia statistically beats every other state in. We’re talking cold, hard facts that you can use the next time someone claims their state wins over Georgia. Take a look:

Flickr Aussie~mobs The very first steamboat nicknamed “Savannah” crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1818. The vessel was purchased by a shipping company in Savannah, Georgia, and was constructed there until being shipped to Washington D.C. for its voyage.
- Peanut Production

- Gold Rush
Flickr Neal Wellons Georgia was the first state to have a Gold Rush in the country. It occurred in 1828 in Auraria, near the city of Dahlongea.
- Pecan Production
