The Wildflower Scavenger Hunt follows along the Shut-Ins Trail, which means even if you can’t make it in April, you can admire the wildflowers and the rest of the natural beauty at another time.

If you’re heading over to the park, stop by the Visitor’s Center when it’s open to pick up a sheet on the scavenger hunt. However, be aware that, during the hunt, you will be asked not to pick any of the flowers and to always remain on the trail.

The Shut-Ins Trail itself is picture-perfect no matter what time of the year you visit. Although it’s rated moderate, the bit of extra effort is worth it for the spectacular scenery – from colorful wildflowers to tiny waterfalls.

You’ll pass Big Creek shut-ins, a popular swimming hole, on the predominately flat trail. Consider wearing water shoes if you plan on walking in the water, and definitely plan a return trip during the summer’s hottest months.
