Each year, we’re treated to one of nature’s most amazing shows: the changing of the seasons from summer to fall, when the lush, vibrant greens all over the state turn into some of the most brilliant ambers and golds you’ll ever see. Patoka Lake is stunningly lovely year-round, but during autumn, it takes on a special beauty like none other. Better still, there are plentiful hiking and walking trails, and this particular autumn lake hike in Indiana is a special kind of magic.

Parts of the trail are very clear, and others are poorly marked, so please make sure to remain very aware of your surroundings at all points during the hike.

Though the colorful leaves will likely all be almost totally shed come the end of October, the trail will remain open; it’s open year-round, though due to some rough terrain, its recommended timeframe of use is from March to October.
