Are you up for a weird adventure? This is a place you simply have to see for yourself.
Guru Road may just be one of the most eccentric destinations in Nevada, and you know that’s saying a lot. The unique, desert-style installation is well worth seeking out when you feel like a rugged adventure.

The quirky attraction can be found just north of the town of Gerlach alongside Highway 34. The start of the road is marked by a sign that says “Guru Road” and is accessible year-round. Do be sure to pack plenty of supplies and make sure you have plenty of fuel before making the trip out here!

Walking along the mile-long road, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a variety of wacky structures. They seem to be built mostly using found objects. It may seem like a random assortment, but there’s a story behind this unusual outdoor art gallery.

Guru Road was created by DeWayne “Doobie” Williams throughout the ’80s and ’90s. Williams was living with cancer and he spent the last 15 years of his life building this one-of-a-kind installation. He used local stones and other random objects found in the desert to craft several large and intricate pieces.

While perusing the road’s art works, you’ll come across inspirational messages, tributes to Doobie’s family and friends, and a handcrafted “weather station.” Doobie put in a lot of creativity to this incredible place - some of the pieces are bound to give you a good chuckle.

Other oddities you’ll come across are a tribute to Elvis, Ground Zero, TV Station, Trickle Down Art Show, and the Desert Broadcast System. Surrounded by the vast expanse of the Northern Nevada desert, this is a pretty astonishing destination.
