Small town Tennessee, we just can’t get enough of you. It must be the kind people and good food, the gorgeous scenery, and the sweet kids making innocent trouble in the fields or something. There’s a tender sweetness to the country, something intangible that brings us back to those old times that occur so few and far between. We’ve found eight more gorgeous places (check out our first list here!) to give you something to dream about. Here are even more beautiful small towns in Tennesee that you’re sure to fall in love with:

  1. Johnson City

Lwowen18/Wikimedia There’s a reason Johnson City is mentioned in every country song since, well, forever. This east Tennessee gem was ranked #14 for the best places to build a small business by Forbes, and was also #5 as one of the least expensive cities in the US by Kiplinger. We’d say that earns it a #1 spot in our book, don’t you think? Plus, as a bonus - autumn here is amazing. Johnson City, TN, USA

  1. Signal Mountain

Teke/Wikimedia It’s not Signal Mountain itself, but a tiny town situated right outside Chattanooga. This place is stunning. Less than 9,000 people call this natural stunner home, and the tight community reflects all that southern hospitality has to offer. Check out the official Signal Mountain website here. Signal Mountain, TN 37377, USA

  1. Paris

ktylerkonk/Wikimedia Ten thousand people, a big ol’ fish and a replica of the Eiffel Tower give this town the chuckling sense of humor that you’ll find speckled across Tennessee. The people are good, the food is killer, and it’s nestled in the country about 90 miles from Nashville. Learn more about Paris here. Paris, TN 38242, USA

  1. Lebanon

Eric Polk(epolk)/Wikimedia Located just outside Nashville, Lebanon is a darling little town with big character. It’s a great place for families to begin and grow, plus their holidays and festivals are top notch. Check the city website for details! Learn more about Lebanon on its official website. Lebanon, TN, USA

  1. Greeneville

AppalachainCentrist/Wikimedia The county seat of Greene County was named after Nathanael Greene, the renowned Revolutionary War hero. The town of 15,000 has strong historical ties, as this is where former President Andrew Johnson began to build his political career. When it comes to beautiful small towns in Tennessee, this one is among the most interesting. Learn more about Greeneville in this article. Greeneville, TN, USA

  1. Pigeon Forge

I, Brian Stansberry/Wikimedia Pigeon Forge may have its share of tourists nowadays, but it has somehow kept that small town charm that so many cities are missing these days. Curling up in a cabin by the fire with a book sounds lovely in the winter, and the locals can tell you the REAL gems of the town - not just the tourist traps. While you’re there, you might want to check out this incredible resort! Pigeon Forge, TN, USA

  1. Dandridge

Brian Stansberry/Wikimedia This darling town is teeny tiny, with occupancy hardly breaking 2500 folks. It’s the second oldest city in the state (Jonesborough is the first) and makes up for its size and age with a fantastic community and cute downtown area. Learn more about it here! Dandridge, TN, USA

  1. Germantown

Thomas R Machnitzki/Wikimedia Germantown is the largest place on our list, but the community is so tight knit that it creates a small town oasis outside of Memphis. Plus? Some of the best bbq in the state is at the Germantown Commissary. Have you been? Because you gotta. Get more info about the Commissary here. Germantown, TN, USA

Alright, Tennessee. Do we have any small-town natives? Sound off in the comments! Are there any beautiful small towns in Tennessee we missed? Tell us about your favorites – we love to hear from you. Nominate your favorite beautiful small towns in Tennessee by using this form.

Beautiful Small Towns in Tennesee September 02, 2021 Tori Jane What are the most charming small towns in Tennessee?   Most places tend to have more small towns than big cities, and Tennessee is certainly no exception. There are all sorts of quaint, small towns scattered all over the state, and each of them comes with its very own kind of magic. Every small town is lovely, but there are some that you’ll see mentioned over and over again. Some of those include Gatlinburg, which serves as a gateway to Great Smoky Mountains State Park, an incredibly beautiful place you’ve got to visit if you haven’t already (and if you have, visit again). Lynchburg is a tiny little town with plenty of charm… and it just so happens to be the home of world-famous Jack Daniel’s whiskey distillery. Franklin is gorgeous, and Tellico Plains is seriously just to die for. There are truly hundreds more; these are just to get you started!   Where are the most beautiful places in Tennessee?   Oh, Tennessee. How beautiful are thee? Let us count the ways. Residents of the Volunteer State will be the first to tell you that this state is just plain the best there is when it comes to beautiful places. For example, you can’t pass up a chance to go see Twin Falls, which is nestled within Rock Island State Park and tends to take one’s breath away the very first time they lay eyes upon it. In Appalachia, you’ll find gems like Roan Mountain, where rhododendron gardens thrive and bring thousands to admire and photograph them every year. Tennessee’s state parks are especially wonderful, and we’re in luck because there are 56 of them around these parts! For a more complete list of our favorite beautiful places in Tennessee that you’ve got to add to your bucket list ASAP, take a look at this article.   What are some important places to visit in Tennessee?  Some people just don’t give Tennessee enough credit! There are some places around the state that nobody in their right minds would pass up on visiting. Some of the most important places to visit if you want the full Tennessee experience include places like the old County Music Hall of Fame, in Nashville – and, while you’re at it, all of Nashville, too. It’s an incredible city with some of the most interesting music history in the world, and the barbecue is great, too. Tennessee is also home to the National Civil Rights Museum, which every person should experience at least once, and, of course, the Grand Ole Opry is a must-see for everyone, too.
