One of our favorite trails in the state is a little bit harder, but this loop forest trail near Sherman, Connecticut takes you through a forest to an unforgettable outlook.

There is a lot to love about the Herrick Trail Preserve via Appalachian Trail Loop.

It can get quite steep in some parts — the elevation gain is a whopping 1,574 feet.

Just keep in mind, Herrick Trail Preserve via Appalachian Trail Loop is best used from March until October, and while dogs are allowed, they need to be kept on a leash.
