We love spending time outdoors and exploring new areas of Kansas, and for many of us, that means a new hiking trail. For an easy-breezy hiking trail near a beautiful lake, we think Black Hoof Trail out at Lake Lenexa is a real treat. Grab your hiking gear, make a plan, and head out to explore a little slice of heaven in Kansas.

Welcome to Black Hoof Trail, an easy-to-hike opportunity that’s the perfect length to add to any road trip.

This 3.7-mile loop is just long enough to provide a great hike while being short enough that you can still enjoy the rest of your day afterward.

Hiking through the trees, you come upon an open area that follows the lakeside on a paved path. How beautiful! Even in the areas that aren’t paved, the trail is nice and wide.

If you like mountain biking on calmer trails, then this spot might be a great addition to your travel plans. With all these views, it’d be a shame to skip out.

Also on the trail are wildflowers, wildlife spotting opportunities, and plenty of water vistas. As long as the weather is nice, this trail is a beautiful sight.

Dogs are allowed on this trail as long as they’re leashed, and we’d love it if you took all of your trash and food scraps back with you so as to leave the natural landscapes free of waste. Thank you, and happy hiking!
