There are all sorts of activities you can partake in at the park, including hiking. In fact, the California Coastal Trail goes right through the park and makes for a great way to explore the park’s lagoons.

The Humboldt Lagoons Trail is a 5.9-mile out-and-back hike that’s rated as moderate. It starts at the parking lot for Dry Lagoon and stretches north all the way to Stone Lagoon.

The hike starts out as a leisurely beach walk but there are a few steep sections that ramp up the intensity. As you leave the beach, you’ll find yourself underneath the shade of trees and surrounded by lush foliage.

After leaving the shaded area, you’ll start to enjoy views of the gorgeous Stone Lagoon. A junction in the trail leads down to the Stone Lagoon Boat-In Campground. After passing this junction, you’ll be treated to some amazing overlook points of the lagoon.

The trail ends at the beach between Stone Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean. From here, you can either continue to explore the beach or turn back for the return trip.
