By far one of our favorite hikes in Alaska is the Winner Creek Trail in Girdwood.

Loisi Vailea / AllTrails An absolute classic, it’s got everything you want on a hike: easily accessible, plenty of stunning views, boardwalks and bridges, and more!

It’s an easy 45-minute drive outside of Anchorage and located in a fun resort town.

Carla Tassara / AllTrails The trailhead has two starts: one end on the Alyeska Resort side, and one end on the Crow Creek Mine Road. It used to have a hand tram that connected the two sides of the trail, but the tram has since fallen into disuse and now you are only able to hike to the creek itself, instead of crossing it.

The trail is short from the Crow Creek Mine Road.

Jory Shypkowski / AllTrails That will take you to the creek in about a mile, but it’s steep going up and down. This is a great option if you don’t have a lot of time.

The main trail starts at the Alyeska Resort behind the tram.

Jared Ellis / AllTrails The trail is 4.5 miles, out and back. You’ll start the hike behind the hotel, and follow along through the rainforest before you reach the creek.

When you get to the falls, make sure you stop and take a moment.

Jory Shypkowski / AllTrails This beautiful spot invites a pause, and maybe even lunch! Pack a picnic and take a break before heading out again.

This great hike has so many fun and interesting features.

Lilone_53. . / AllTrails There’s also plenty of parking, no matter which way you head in to get to Glacier Creek. Both sides of the trail offer free parking lots to use, although the parking lots at Alyeska Resort are much larger if it’s a busy day.

This unbelievable hike is one you really have to do in person.

Anna Giacalone / AllTrails The fairy tale atmosphere and killer views make this a crowd pleaser for the whole family. Pack your gear and head on out on the Winner Creek Trail this year!
