Sick of the saltwater and waves? Don’t worry; while the most popular swimming spots in New Jersey are located at the shore, there are other options when you want to take a dip. One of our favorite swimming holes in the state is actually a pretty, secluded lake called Hooks Creek Lake. Here’s what you should know before planning your visit.

One of the highlights of the park is Hooks Creek Lake. It’s a great place to swim and never gets crowded.

Swimming is allowed at the lake from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and there are lifeguards present.

While most people flock to Hooks Creek Lake for the swimming, there are other activity options, too, like fishing and crabbing.

It’s an affordable trip to make, too. Park admission is $5 per car ($10 for those who don’t live in New Jersey) on weekdays and $10 per car (and $20 for non-New Jersey residents) on weekends and holidays.
