Hot air balloons will be soaring this August at the FireLake Fireflight Balloon Festival in Shawnee. If you’re looking for a fun, family activity this summer, you’ll want to check out this festival that’s filled with much more than just balloons.
The 2021 FireLake Fireflight Balloon Festival will take place August 13-14 on the grounds of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, just 30 minutes East of OKC in Shawnee.

This 2-day event is filled with balloon glows, balloon launches and rides, and family-friendly entertainment.

There will also be a 5K run that will start at 6:30 am on Saturday, June 14. The entry fee is $40 if you wish to participate in the run.

Come and watch over 25 balloons fill the sky, enjoy quality live entertainment, and experience some of the best vendors and food trucks in the state.

Passengers can also take to the sky in one of the balloons. Baskets can hold 2-4 passengers, depending on size. The ride takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the wind.

But they also have a tethered ride that is less stomach-dropping. Be sure to watch the firework show on Friday night at 9:30 p.m.
