This stunning castle, which hearkens back to Medieval European architecture, opened in 2002.

The land on which the castle was constructed was used quite extensively in the early 1800s.

Danielle- City Skipper Gal F./Flickr Once upon a time, the sits housed a church. Its worshipers, people of English and German heritage, had a dispute over which language should be spoken during service. English won, and the Germans dug up family members from the adjacent Heyd Cemetery and moved them elsewhere. A young girl in a blue dress is often spotted in the cemetery, and cries can be heard about the property. Could it be that her grave was disturbed and she is looking for her remains and her relatives?

The church tragically burned to the ground shortly after the language dispute.

Landoll’s Mohican Castle/Flickr When the congregation rebuilt in a new location, it too burned down. Some believe the land of the original church is cursed, but the builders of Landoll’s Mohican Castle remained undaunted. That is, until 2007, when the on-site restaurant burned down. Could it be that the curse is true?

The property also has a haunted cottage.

It is possible that his spirit was awoken during the 2012 renovation, as visitors report hearing voices, footsteps, and knocking in his former home. Some have even reported seeing his apparition!

Though the property has a well-documented and fascinating history, there are a few ghostly occurrences that cannot quite be explained.

Castle Ghost Tours/Facebook Ghosts of Civil War era soldiers have been reported on the property, seemingly as comfortable in the hotel as if they were a paying guest. One must wonder where these specters came from and why they have targeted this property as an afterlife haunt.

With such a haunted reputation, it is no surprise that the castle now offers ghost tours and investigations.
