Midwesterners with a craving for boba, or “bubble” tea don’t always have a ton of local options. Luckily for Omaha natives, Thirst-Tea Café has you covered with locations in Midtown Crossing and at 76th & Dodge. This popular café has been open since 2014 and offers over 70 varieties of tea, and you can add boba to any of them.
Boba are tiny balls of squishy tapioca that settle at the bottom of your cup of tea. Typically served cold, bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980s and has since gained a following among tea drinkers. Along with the basic variety, Thirst-Tea Café offers specialty boba including popping boba with fruit-flavored fillings.
The café isn’t large, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in pizzaz, with a colorful, thirst-quenching wall and a vibe fit for groups of friends.

Choose between fruit teas, milky teas, slushes, lemonades, and even Vietnamese iced coffee. Of course, if you’re in the mood for something more traditional, they have you covered with oolongs, black teas, and more.
The teas come in clear plastic cups with a heat-sealed lid and fat straws that are perfect for sucking up the tapioca boba.

You’ll also find some enticing East Asian snacks including eggrolls, wings, and onigiri, a triangular snack of seaweed and rice. Choose a filling such as kimchi, shrimp tempura, or spicy tuna.

Takoyaki, or “octopus balls,” are savory donut hole-like snacks with bits of octopus inside. You’ll also find them on the menu.
