Could you use a little more happiness in your life? While the Centennial State is generally a happy and positive place, certain communities and attractions still stand out as being more upbeat than others, including this charming and – dare we say? – quirky Colorado town that may be one of the happiest in America:
Welcome to Nederland, Colorado!

Located just west of Boulder, Nederland (or Ned) is a small town of just under 1,500 that is as colorful as it is friendly.

Established in 1874, Nederland started as a trading post between the Ute Indians and European settlers before finding success as a mining town.

Despite the mines eventually running dry, Nederland continued to remain relevant, thanks to its amazing surrounding landscape that consists of everything from wilderness areas to parks to the Barker Meadow Reservoir.

As if Nederland’s natural wonders were not reason enough to visit, the town also boasts bright and cheery architecture and equally charming coffee shops, restaurants, museums, and shops.

Can you see why Nederland’s motto is “Life Is Better Up Here?”

In addition to all of the above, Nederland is also home to the aptly named “Carousel of Happiness,” which further proves our point that “Ned” is one of the happiest towns in America!
