New York State is filled with scenery straight out of a fantasy novel, particularly in the famed Hudson Valley. It’s no coincidence that the entire art movement, the Hudson River School, sprung from this area. Thomas Cole, Frederic Edwin Church, and others painted the valley and its surrounding mountains – including Storm King Mountain. You can capture the same jaw-dropping beauty (with Instagram or paintbrushes) by hiking the Storm King Mountain trail.
The Storm King Mountain loop is only 2.4 miles and can be walked in either direction, though most hikers recommend clockwise due to a few rocks in the path that easier to navigate coming up than down.
