Virginia’s natural landscape is lovely, but seldom does it strike as bizarre. Unless, of course, you happen to be talking about the Natural Chimneys in Virginia. For anyone who hasn’t visited this incredible natural area in Mount Solon, prepare for an awe-inspiring vision of nature. While the Natural Chimneys are certainly beautiful, it’s the unusual otherworldly shape and height that makes them such a noteworthy attraction. And yet, they are still relatively unknown outside of the local community....

Newport is a small town nestled in Oregon’s Central Coast. Its main attraction is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, a gorgeous historical lighthouse that’s the tallest in the state. But there’s another attraction in this sleepy coastal town, and it’s equal parts strange and sensational, with a story that will send shivers down your spine. Located in Newport’s Aquarium Village, you’ll come face-to-face with the Yaquina Bay Monster. Or rather, a statue of the aforementioned beast....

In 1936, a plane carrying 17 passengers fell from the sky and crashed into an Arkansas swamp. The aircraft disintegrated on impact, killing everyone on board. The recovery effort that followed only reiterated what was already obvious – the crash was one of the worst the state and nation had ever seen. At about 7:30 p.m. on January 14, 1936, an American Airways flight crashed into a swamp near Goodwin....
