Palisade State Park In Utah Has Camping Fishing Golf And A Beach

Utah’s state parks each have their own unique features, and all of them are worthy of a visit, but there’s one park in particular that has tons of things to see and do. Whether you want to camp, fish, golf, or just loaf on the beach, you’ll want to check out Palisade State Park.

You’ll find Palisade State Park in Central Utah, near the little town of Sterling. It’s a little oasis that covers 64 acres.

The reservoir was built way back in 1860, by a settler named Daniel R. Funk. He had the idea to create a resort there, and he made a deal with the local Sanpitch tribe leader, Chief Arapeen to get a land patent.

The area has long been a favorite with Utahns who come from all corners of the state to play in the cool waters and enjoy the many other amenities.

You’ll have fun splashing and playing in the lake all day long. You can swim or paddle out to the floating platform, hang out in the middle of the lake for awhile, then jump from the platform to cool off when you get too hot.

Rent a paddle boat, kayak, canoe, or stand up paddle board while you’re here. Rates start at just $5 an hour for kids kayaks and $10 for adult kayaks or canoes, and if you’re going to stay all day you’ll save money with a full day rate.

Cast your line to try your luck with the rainbow, cutthroat, and tiger trout that call the lake home. You can fish from the shore, or troll around on a little boat in the lake. Only electric motors are allowed here, so it’s a quiet, peaceful experience.

Set up your umbrella and beach chair on the shores of the lake and read a book, nap, or watch the kids splash around. You’re far away from the stresses of your everyday life at Palisade.

Bring your clubs and play 18 holes on the Palisade Golf Course. This is one of the most picturesque golf courses in the state, and at just $24 on weekdays/$26 on weekends for all 18 holes, it’s a bargain.

You could make this a day trip, but why leave when there’s a great campground where you can stay all night long? The park has sites with hookups, and tent sites. Each has a picnic table, fire ring, and grill.

If you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, stay in one of the log cabins or tent cabins. They’re furnished with beds, and basic furniture. Cabins have electricity, heating, and cooling, and some have restrooms inside.
