It’s no secret that Alabama is a hiker’s dream. After all, there are several hiking trails located throughout the Yellowhammer State that are great for a variety of skill levels. One of these trails is Pine Beach Trail. For information about this trail, including what makes it unique, take a look below.
Pine Beach Trail is located within the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama.

This coastal trail, which is about four miles out and back, is great for most skill levels.

The beginning of Pine Beach Trail will lead you down a sandy path and through a maritime forest.

While hiking through this section of the trail, you’ll also encounter a variety of plants and wildlife. Don’t forget your camera!

The middle section of Pine Beach Trail features a saltwater lagoon (Little Lagoon) on one side and a freshwater lake (Gator Lake) on the other.

Because of these two water features, Pine Beach Trail is considered one of Alabama’s most unique trails.

After hiking over sand dunes, you’ll arrive at Pine Beach Trail’s beach area (end of the trail). This beach area is quite secluded when compared to other beaches in the area.

So, if you’re wanting to visit a beach in the Gulf Shores area that’s not usually crowded, you’ll certainly want to add Pine Beach Trail to your hiking bucket list.
