Cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and even turkeys, often having survived abuse, are living out the rest of their days in comfort at Farm Sanctuary in California. Farm Sanctuary has two locations, one in Acton, California, and one in Watkins Glen, New York.

The California location encompasses 26 acres of land and is located approximately 45 minutes from Hollywood. Tours, with advance registration, are given on Saturdays and Sundays. Biscuit, a little blind sheep, was discovered at an animal auction facility in Colorado.

Farm Sanctuary/Facebook Alone and afraid after the rest of his family was sold, Biscuit went home with Tyler, the young woman who found him. Tyler created an Instagram page for Biscuit, which eventually helped connect them with Farm Sanctuary. Biscuit is thriving happily and now has resident sheep Otto as his playmate.

Affectionate Grace the goat had suffered from neglect in the past, but is now lounging contentedly in the sun at Farm Sanctuary, without a care in the world.

When Otto the sheep came to Farm Sanctuary in June of 2020, he was paired up with Squid, a resident sheep who uses wheels to get around.

Farm Sanctuary/Facebook Born on a farm in Utah, Otto was unable to feed himself and appeared to have some neurological issues. If he walked into a corner, he didn’t realize that he could turn around to get out, and thus he was stuck there. A nearby landowner offered to take in the young sheep, but soon realized that Otto would be better off at Farm Sanctuary with access to specialized veterinary care. By imitating Squid, Otto was, in time, able to learn how to eat on his own!

Farm Sanctuary even has celebrity supporters like actor Joaquin Phoenix.

Shortly after he made that speech, he rescued a mother cow and her calf, and facilitated their arrival at Farm Sanctuary. A year later, he came to visit them at the sanctuary.
