Road trip season is just beginning, which means it is time to start scoping out all of the best places to see around the Mount Rushmore State! Are you in the market for something fun and quirky? Then you will want to stop at the Porter Sculpture Park, which may just be one of the strangest roadside attractions in South Dakota:

Nestled away near Montrose, the Porter Sculpture Park is home to - you guessed it - a collection of sculptures that you have to see to believe.

Located just off I-90, the Porter Sculpture Park is the creation of Wayne Porter, an artist and farmer who made his masterpieces from old scrap metal and other re-purposed equipment, and them painting them in a series of vibrant and eye-catching colors.

Instead of keeping his creations to himself. Porter opened the aptly-named Porter Sculpture Park, which is home to 50 welded metal sculptures that range from dragons to farm animals to stick figures and the World’s Largest Ball of Invisible Twine (get it?).

Your eyes do not deceive you: that is indeed a 60-foot-tall bull’s head in the middle of the South Dakota prairie!

Admission to the Porter Sculpture Park is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 13 to 17.
