In the back of an old general store, in the far southeast corner of Iowa, you’ll find some of the best fudge anywhere. The Addie Mae Fudge Factory in Bentonsport has been producing irresistible small-batch fudge for three decades. The little shop is worth seeking out, but be prepared to be faced with a delicious dilemma: there are so many fudge flavors to choose from!

Bentonsport has changed little since the town’s days as a bustling steamboat port. Addie May Fudge Factory is located in the town’s historic district, in Greef General Store, a building that was built in the 1840s.

Allow plenty of time to browse the selection of fudges and antiques – this isn’t a place to be in a hurry. Visitors are welcome to relax on the boardwalk-style porch and take in the view of the nearby Des Moines River and community park.
