In Western Iowa, Honey Creek Creek Creamery is a place where you can explore some new things. You may have savored a little cold gelato on a warm Iowa day, but have you ever tasted goat milk gelato? When you try what the creamery’s goats help produce, you’ll become a convert.
But that’s not the only thing on the menu of this quirky creamery – when the goats aren’t busy helping make artisan gelato, they use their yoga skills to help visitors find a new level of tranquility. So save room for dessert and get out your yoga mat, here’s what you need to know about Honey Creek Creamery.
In case you’ve never “herd” of this place, it’s about 13 miles northeast of Omaha. The creamery has three types of goats on the farm - Nubians, Saanens and Alpines. According to the creamery, the Nubians have more butterfat in the milk and the Saanen and Alpine produce larger amounts of milk.

The creamery produces delicious fresh cheese. The chevre lasts about three weeks and also freezes well, so you can buy some to enjoy later.

You have to try the gelato. It might seem a little unusual, but it’s awesome. The creamery uses a base of fresh goats’ milk, fresh eggs, vanilla beans from Madagascar and sugar. According to the creamery, large producers use a dry powder milk for their base.
