Even if you’ve been to all the big-name state parks in Massachusetts, there’s always another hidden natural gem around the corner. Callahan State Park is a gorgeous little spot in Framingham with a great selection of trails. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to check out some cool ruins and wave to a bunch of pretty horses!

The 800-acre park offers a fantastic selection of trails to explore, including the popular Bear Paw, Backpacker, and Pine Tree trails.

You can combine those three trails into a 1.8-mile loop that will take you past the fascinating ruins of an old hearth. It’s the perfect spot to spread a blanket and enjoy a snack.

If you’re lucky, you’ll also be able to spot beautiful horses grazing in the private pastures alongside the park. Please keep your distance and don’t attempt to interact with the horses.
