If you’re looking for an inexpensive and fun trip in New York, Sonnenberg Gardens makes for a wonderful afternoon outing! The 50-acre state park is in the Finger Lakes region and is made up of multiple gardens that have been beautifully restored. If you love botanical gardens, you won’t want to miss this one!

The gardens are located on the grounds of a mansion that was once the summer home of Frederick Ferris Thompson, a wealthy New York City banker in the late 1800s.

The Rock Garden is a wooded garden that is great for exploring. Plants were cleverly planted so as to show off the natural beauty of the upstate New York area.
