The Southern Virginia Wild Blueway is essentially a network of three rivers and two lakes that span Mecklenburg and Halifax Counties, creating a 100-mile navigable route.

The rivers include the Dan River, the Staunton River, and the Banister River, all made up of exquisite scenery. In fact, 80 miles of the river portion are designated as a Virginia Scenic River.

The lakes included in the Blueway are Kerr Lake (Buggs Island Lake) and Lake Gaston. These lakes offer a combined 1,200 miles of shoreline, most of which are undeveloped and open to the public.
