It goes without saying there are a lot of beautiful churches in the world. Religious fervor inspires the creation of man-made wonders like nothing else. It really takes a special church to stand out as particularly gorgeous. We’ve got a historic church right here in West Virginia that is absolutely breathtaking. St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church has been around for centuries and between its magnificent architecture and unparalleled location, we think you’ll agree it’s one of the prettiest places of worship in the state.
St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church was built in Harpers Ferry in 1833. It was actually the only church in the town that survived the devastation of the Civil War.

While the architecture is obviously magnificent, what makes this place really special is the location. It’s located just off the Appalachian Trail and has beautiful views of the Shenandoah Gorge and Potomac River.

The church was built to provide a place of worship for Irish immigrants in the area, but needless to say, it’s enjoyed by all now!
