Many would agree that one of the most beautiful places in the Land of Lincoln is Starved Rock State Park with a trail system that leads through the forest to scenic overlooks and waterfalls. Within the property is the park’s only hotel, the historic Starved Rock Lodge which has a wonderful restaurant that will take you back to another time.
Nestled among the trees in Starved Rock State Park is the Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center. Built in the 1930s, the Lodge and its property are on the National Register of Historic Places.

When the weather is warm, make sure to have a meal out on the veranda where you will be treated to sweeping views of the park. Sometimes there’s nothing better than dining with a view, although you may prefer to dine inside the historic old-fashioned dining room instead!
