Throughout the year we find that our choice for favorite season in New Hampshire changes. In the summer we can’t get enough of the green forests of the White Mountains and the dark blues of our lakes. The winter offers cozy nights and snowy fun. The spring is a beauty with newly budding trees and a return to exploring gardens throughout the state. But this year, we’re really loving fall. As the the changing leaves make their way from north to south and the temperatures drop little-by-little, we’re loving the idea of seeing the leaves in unique ways. This horseback riding tour is a great one!

Located in Jackson, Black Mountain is a beautiful ski area located in the White Mountains. In the fall it’s absolutely gorgeous.

But like so many things in New Hampshire, Black Mountain is a great place to visit during other seasons, too. In the summer and fall they offer horseback riding tours and pony rides.

Black Mountain offers these rides daily beginning at 10 a.m. The last ride departs at 4 p.m.

The horseback trail rides at Black Mountain can be enjoyed by anyone 10 and older who weighs between 80 and 230 pounds. For kids under 10 the mountain offers pony rides between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. These rides, which last between eight and 10 minutes are great for kids to get comfortable with being around horses and gives a chance for some fun photos!

Black Mountain horseback trail rides take place daily with departures at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $70 per-person. You can learn more about them by visiting the website or following them on Facebook. Remember that rides are weather-dependent so be sure to check with them first to make sure your scheduled ride is still taking place. Rides typically take place through mid-October. And, for the safety of everyone, right now each departure s limited to four guests. You’ll need to make your reservation by phone and they can be reached on 603-383-4490.
