Based in southern Vermont, the Little Black Mountain trail is an in and out trail that’s just over a mile long. Due to the terrain and elevation of 219 feet, it’s rated moderate. Locals and tourists flock to the trail to see wildlife and to take in views of New Hampshire that look like they’re a stone’s throw away. Because the trail is fairly short and slightly steep, it’s also popular for families with children.

Set your GPS to 1933 Black Mountain Rd in Dummerston to reach the trailhead.

Due to weather conditions, it’s recommended to hike Little Black Mountain anytime between March through October. However, there’s still a chance that there will be snow on the ground when you hit the hike during these months.

If you hike the trail during July or August, it’ll also be blueberry season. Therefore, keep your eyes peeled for the wild blueberry bushes you’ll see along the trail;
