The cooler fall weather means that we Mississippians can finally go outside without succumbing to heat stroke, and what better way to spend the day outdoors than surrounded by great food, live music and fun for the entire family? So, just to get your festival season started off right, we put together this list of some of the best in the state.
- Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival, Greenville

The 3-day long affair includes over 250 craft vendors and a variety of family events, including draft horse farming demonstrations, the mule pull, fiddling contest, “purtiest” rooster contest, quilt contest, wheel pottery, dulcimer makers, knife makers, wood carvers, beauty contest, live music, and the “south’s finest foods.”

- Cruisin’ the Coast, Biloxi

Scheduled for October 2nd – 9th, the event includes cruise-ins, headline bands, a variety of live entertainment, swap meet, auction, and more.

Scheduled for November 5th – 12th, the festival includes several food booths, featuring a variety of sweet potato dishes as well as Vardaman’s “famous chicken dinners,” arts and crafts, a 5k run, contests, antique tractor judging, and the annual auctioning of the Sweet Potato Quilt.
