Good news! After canceling due to the pandemic in 2020, one of West Virginia’s most popular festivals has figured out how to safely host their event in 2021!. That means the Feast of the Ramson is on for this spring… for the 82nd time.
Something special is coming to Richwood, West Virginia this spring: the 82nd Feast Of The Ramson. On Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Richwood Moose Lodge from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (or until the food runs out), the city of Richwood is throwing a party. A big party. A fun party. A really pungent party.

The Feast of the Ransom features local Appalachian music, a unique Arts and Craft show and sale, and (of course) a delicious ramp dinner.

Dozens of volunteers spend hours cleaning and prepping the pounds and pounds of ramps the city cooks up and serves at the feast.

Entrance to the festival itself is free, but tickets are $15 for the dinner.

The food this year will be available as take-out or with limited indoor and outdoor seating options. In addition to ramps, the dinner will include potatoes, brown beans, cornbread, ham and bacon, desserts, and drinks, including Gub’s Sassafras Tea.

Of course, not everyone appreciates the strong, odorous flavor of ramps, but don’t worry! There are other food options available as well if you just want to come out and enjoy the day without sampling the festival’s infamous namesake.
