Editor’s Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UCP of Maine will not be holding this event in-person in 2021 and will instead hold a virtual week-long event. They are hoping to hold the event in person in 2022.

As if the changing fall colors weren’t enough, the arrival of October also brings all the fun of Halloween. From dressing up to trick-or-treating, it’s fun to spend the month getting excited for one of the most quintessential autumn holidays. This year, make it extra special by attending the best pumpkin glow in Maine.

This year’s event will take place at the Anah Shriner’s building in Bangor on Sunday, October 21st from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This fun event is held indoors (good choice for a place like Maine in October!) allowing kids and adults to visit the many themed booths (they’re referred to as “patches” at the event) created by local Maine businesses.

There will be warm trick-or-treating at each “patch” as well as a photo booth, face painting, prizes and, if the weather cooperates, a bounce house!

And, the most exciting part of the event is the hundreds of glowing pumpkins that have been meticulously carved by local community members.

The attention to detail is remarkable!

And there’s nothing like low lights and bright jack-o-lanterns to bring out some excitement for Halloween.

This year’s theme is “Heroes Unite” and attendees are encouraged to come in costumes that represent their favorite superhero from a movie, comic, book or TV show.

This event is run by the UCP of Maine, an organization dedicated to advancing the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities who have multiple needs.

Another great pumpkin festival in Maine is the famous Damariscotta Pumpkinfest. Unless you’ve attended you’ve never seen anything like it!
