The Canton Flea Market In Mississippi Is Back For Its 56Th Year Of Fun

The Canton Flea Market Arts And Crafts Show is back for its 56th year, and you don’t want to miss it! Since its inception, the market has received numerous accolades, including being voted one of the top 20 events in the southeast. Only getting better with age, the beloved market now boasts some of the South’s best shopping, along with all the southern hospitality you can stand.

If you dreamt up the perfect small town, it’d probably look a lot like Canton.

Not only is the town brimming with history and charm, but it plays host to some amazing events, including the Canton Flea Market Arts And Crafts Show.

Held on the lawn of the Madison County Courthouse, it always takes place on the second Thursday in May and October, from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Debuted in 1965, it’s touted as one of the South’s “original and finest” arts and crafts shows.

The first market included just a handful of local artists, showcasing their paintings on the iron fence surrounding the courthouse.

With each passing year, the market has only gotten bigger and better. Today, it’s one of the largest outdoor craft markets in the South.

Twice a year more than 1,000 vendors, artists, and craftsmen head to the market to peddle handcrafted items, such as jewelry, pottery, and one-of-a-kind arts and crafts.

The great merchandise extends beyond the courthouse grounds, though.

Additional craft exhibits can be found on Union and Center Streets, which are adjacent to the Courthouse, as well as on the church properties on Peace Street, at the Old Jail Museum behind City Hall, and on two blocks of East Fulton Street.
